Honey Myrrh Mask
Formulated for supporting aging skin and healing damaged skin, this mask has a honey base. Honey is widely regarded as one of the first and oldest beauty secrets. A natural humectant, honey draws moisture to the skin and is excellent for dry skin conditions as well as acne. It is highly anti-bacterial and very healing and softening to the skin.
To our honey of choice we added revered and unique resins from around the world. A precious offering of trees in the form of dried sap, resins have been collected and used in cosmetics for thousands of years. Resins promote tissue regeneration and help build and maintain integrity and are a valuable resource for natural skincare and supporting the aging process.
About our Ingredients:
Honey's pH is very close to human skin. It contains a lot of amino acids, proteins, enzymes, minerals, vitamins and anti-bacterial molecules. Because of its high sugar content, it is hydrating and emollient. It naturally softens, tones and nourishes the skin and helps to vitalize skin cell regeneration.
So yes, honey is amazing for skin. But what kind of honey you use does matter. Our raw New Zealand Beechwood honey is organic and unfiltered. Sourced from the beech forests of New Zealand's South Island, a remote and unpolluted corner of the world which produces honey untainted by pesticide drift.
This special honey is derived from bees collecting the sap of the Beechwood tree, rather than the nectar of flowers, making this an extraordinary varietal that boasts higher antioxidant levels, higher antibacterial activity levels, higher mineral content and greater nutritional and therapeutic benefits than most flower honeys, all of which work to maintain skin elasticity and youthful appearance. Recommended for all skin types; dry, normal, combination, mature and acne prone.
Found primarily around the Horn of Africa, Myrrh is harvested by collecting the dried sap of the tree Commiphora myrrha. It has been used in traditional medicine in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India and China.
Myrrh has particularly rejuvenating properties, and is known as a first rate natural preserver. Myrrh promotes healing of skin at its deepest layers, and has a long recorded folk use for slowing down the signs of aging, soothing chapped or dry skin, controlling oily skin conditions, and protecting the skin from damage.
Wild Poplar Bud Oil
Made from a careful, slow steeping of the resinous buds of wild Black Cottonwood tree (Populus trichocarpa) in organic olive oil, this mask is a limited edition release as we are dependant on windfall which varies year to year to harvest the buds from these very tall trees. Poplar bud oil is a first-rate anti-inflammatory and healer for damaged skin, also helping to combat the thinning of the skin that comes with time. With a heavenly aroma, it brings to mind the smell of the forest in spring. We pick buds from downed branches of wild Cottonwood stands here on Vancouver Island, and the rich, resin-infused oil from these buds is a delicate process taking weeks to make.
Copaiba Essential Oil
Copaifera officinalis is a traditional remedy from the Amazon rainforest. The essential oil is made from the resin of the Brazilian balsam, has active components that firm the skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Interestingly, much like honey, it is recommended for both dry skin conditions as well as acne and acne scarring, a plant ally used for clearer, smoother, younger looking skin.
